i haven't gone to the theaters for quite a while. this afternoon huang wei-la text messaged me, saying her friend is giving away a ticket of a movie from the Golden Horse Film Festival. her friend booked and prepaid for the ticket, but couldn't make it to see it tonight.
anyway, i got the ticket for free. and i didn't know what i was going to see until 2 hours before the show time. i was kept up by work. after work, i check on the web, and found this.
okay, a musical, a comedy. that's nothing special. but hey, from MALAYSIA?
i don't think i haven't seen any single movie from Malaysia. in the first place...no offense..i don't even know there's film industry in Malaysia. (yes, i'm ignorant...my apologies).
and it turned out...
THIS MOVIE TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!
it is nothing like what i previously imagined. it's hilarious, full of dry, sarcastic humor. making a huge mockery of the current over-commercialized society. there were many parts that made me laugh like nuts.
some of the songs in the movie are pretty good. i'm sure anyone seeing this film will be touched at some point throughout the film.
i like it very much. 4.5 star recommendation!!
hope it will be showing in theaters in Taiwan in the near future.
oh and, by the way, the lead guy looks cute.
